Project / Logo for "Refugefest"–a New Year's Eve party for the Student Ministry

Brief / Create "a logo for an event called Refugefest. We will be doing a short film competition [&] dodgeball tournament on New Year’s Eve. Anything that makes it feel like a New Year’s Eve deal would be good."

Today, we kick off the exciting month of December! So why don't you couple that new beginning with a fresh start to your virtual desktop by trashing that grainy picture of some random waterfall or landscape and replacing it with an exciting ode to the magical month of Santa, sleighbells, and snorkeling (sorry, needed another "S"). I'm gonna quit talking now and just give you the goods...

Quick post for everyone featuring a concept for the cover page of a project I'm currently working on.

Color in Design

As a designer, color is very important to me. The perfect color can make an ordinary design really pop. In the creative process, the color choice is not an arbitrary one - each shade and hue of every color represents something different. Every specific color choice is on purpose to visually portray the content and essence of the subject matter.

That being said, it is easy to fall in love with certain exact colors and use them obsessively in your designs (which is not always a bad thing).

To the point, can you guess what color I've been a little obsessed with lately?

Brief / Create a logo "in the...theme of 'Survivor' with volcanoes, Mayan temples, and monkeys..."

Client Reaction / "I think its great. Information is correct and graphics are very good. It has the feel of survivor without being over the top."

Swift Creek / Fall Festival Flyer

Client // Swift Creek Baptist Church, Midlothian, VA

Project // Flyer for annual community Fall Festival put on by the church

Brief // Create a full-page flyer: "This flyer would be passed out to thousands of kids throughout our school system. I need it to be family-friendly with a huge emphasis on kids...Event is geared towards the entire family, but stronger towards kids preschool-sixth grade. Fall colors would be great..."

Beyond Measure Logo

Just finished up a project designing a logo for a new local ministry to college-age students, Beyond Measure.

Project Parameters: Create a "hip" logo for a new ministry that can go on a letterhead and other promotion material.

Client Reaction: "Great job!  [We] really like it! It's exactly what we were looking for! Thanks so much for your help!"

Swift Creek / Snow Camp Brochure

Despite the 90° heat outside my window, I began to design, compiling wintry colors with pictures of snowboarders and skiers. The project was to make a brochure for a ski trip/youth camp for a church in Virginia. I must admit, it took quite a bit of imagination and focus to pull off a wintry design in the middle of August! But, when all was said and done, I was pleased (and so was the client)...

Swift Creek Uprising/Lock-in Mailout

Here's a couple mailouts I designed last month for the folks at Swift Creek in VA. Both events occurred on the same night and are just absolute madness! I told the Student Pastor he's nuts for trying to survive all of this! Check it out...
