Nov 20, 2011

Here's a look at a piece I designed for a local mural contest. Taking inspiration from retro postcard designs, my good friend Ben and I ventured into the city to photograph iconic landmarks from our home. I then stayed up far too late creating the finished design.

Just finished up these invitations for my sister's Mary Kay Christmas Open House. (Ladies, check her out here.) The idea was to create a warm, nostalgic, and festive feel for the party with the invites.

Center Point Logo

Logo Process: Start to Finish:

Initial Batch of Concepts:

Black-and-white concepts. We'll get to color schemes later. Four different designs presented. Cast a broad net and see which direction the client wants to head in.

_
Second batch of concepts
Color added. Variations made at client's request. Focusing in on what the client liked.

_
Final concept
By this point, the customer and I are basically on the same page. I just run this by for confirmation. This time we got it in three tries (it's not always so simple)!

Many thanks to CenterPoint for their trust and cooperation and for the opportunity!

FBC Collierville Logos/Signage

I was recently commissioned by my good friend and Student Pastor, Scott, at FBC Collierville, TN, to create logo and signage design for two of their weekly events:

SURGE//
Mid-week service for middlechoolers.

This logo and banner design is teeming with enough energy to be fitting of a title like "Surge." It matches the intensity of middleschoolers, without sacrificing crispness or clarity.

[finished product: 2' x 5' vertical banner]

MIDDLE SCHOOL BIBLE FELLOWSHIP//
Sunday School classes
The challenge with this design was to remain casual enough to relate to a younger audience, while staying dressy enough for church on Sunday. This result is both decidedly current and historically-rooted (utilizing a classic Lubalin typeface).

[finished product: 12" x 36" mounted sign]

Custom Save the Dates

Was so excited to have the chance to design the Save the Dates for my sister and her fiancé's upcoming wedding. After several scrapped ideas, I was struck with inspiration and worked feverishly to create. I was delighted with the final product (as were my clients).

Blog Design

Just went live with a brand new web design for a friend who recently started a blog. He had the vision to start the blog, but wanted it to stand out from among the cookie-cutter default sites. I created a customized template that fits the theme of the blog...and it's still easy to edit and post from on his end. Check out the screen-shot below, or better yet, check out the site at StudentPastorLife.com.

Wedding Guest Poster

Finishing up a project that gives a wedding guest book a new twist by turning it into a poster that the newlyweds can frame in their new home. This is a customization of a generic poster that uses the couple's names and wedding colors. Great idea and fun project. Check it out...
